We are incredibly excited to welcome Don Hertzfeldt to Bonnaroo. The absurdist animated film master will present a career retrospective of his amusing, shocking shorts and screen his newest flick I Am So Proud of You. Hertzfeldt will be making a rare in-person appearance for an interview and audience chat. Don’t miss this chance to tap into one of the great cinematic minds of our generation.

We’re exceedingly proud to say that Bonnaroo will be hosting its own private Lewboski Fest!!! Complete with pinhead costumes, ringer toss, games, prizes and multiple screenings, our cinema tent will provide for all of your Lebowski-releated needs. Do not miss out on the fun!

In the grand tradition of monstrous metal-music movies, Anvil! The Story of Anvil is making some deafening noise in the film community, and we’re bringing all the fuss to Bonnaroo. Come dig into the legend of the Canadian act that influenced countless metal bands from the early ‘80s on. Directed by number one Anvil fan and original roadie Sacha Gervasi, the film features characters like Slash, members of Slayer and Bonnaroo alum Lars Ulrich of Metallica. This is no mockumentary. It’s the real thing!

At Bonnaroo, you can also catch an early glimpse of the metaphysical tragicomedy Cold Souls, starring Paul Giamatti. In Sophie Barthes’s quirky cinematic adventure, Giamatti, as himself, attempts to give his soul a break from the demands of acting (and living). Does he succeed? You’ll be among the first to find out: Our sneak preview comes well ahead of the theater release in August.

Bonnaroo is extending its eco-consciousness to the cinema realm with Green Screens presented by Rock the Earth. The series will highlight films that illuminate our planet’s environmental concerns, and bring some of our best-loved performers and personalities to talk about the issues, like Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, who will be on hand to speak about Flow: For Love of Water, a film that addresses the world‘s dwindling water supply. We’ll bring attention to another pressing issue with a screening of Mountain Top Removal, which looks at the destructive mining process and the geological impact of the changing topography of the Appalachia Mountain region. We’re also excited to welcome world-renowned river expert Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to a screening of Grand Canyon Adventure: River At Risk.  Featuring music by Bonnaroo alum the Dave Matthews Band, GCA combines exhilarating river-rafting action on America’s most iconic river with the grandeur of the Canyon to tell the story of how ordinary people can make a difference.  Finally, to anchor the entire series, award winning filmmaker Robert Stone will be on hand to present Earth Days, a documentary that tells the story of the origins of the modern environmental movement.

Ever think about what it means to be happy? Andrew Shapter’s Happiness Is examines the issue from all sides, gathering perspectives from all sorts of Americans about the historical catchphrase “the pursuit of happiness”. Find out what the concept means to musicians like John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson, spiritual leaders like the Dalai Lama, Bonnaroo attendees and off-the-street Americans.

If you’re into mind blowing surf footage and incredible soundtracks, check out surfer-artist Thomas Campbell’s latest wave-riding masterpiece, The Present. Shot in such far-flung locations as Sumatra, Java, West Africa and Australia, the film highlights the daring feats of a top-notch fleet of surfers including Dave Rastovich, Dane Reynolds and Sofia Mulanovich. Also in the surf/skate culture vein, we’re showing Beautiful Losers, Aaron Rose’s film about a gang of outsiders who convened at an NYC storefront gallery in the early ‘90s to create an influential cultural movement around their urban environment. After skating, tagging, rapping, making zines and creating their way through early ‘90s NYC, this group, including Thomas Campbell, Shepard Fairey, Margaret Kilgallen, Barry McGee and Mike Mills, went on to become some of the art world’s most influential minds.

We’ve also got the latest from Vice’s Girls Night Out series. The new installment from the wacky comedy series is Kids Play, a hilarious short about a slacker artiste and his misguided quest to make a childrens’ film. What if this jackass actually gets an opportunity? Let’s just say it doesn’t happen exactly the way he expected.
